In Memory of our Major Bobby Bawcum September 12, 1958 - August 14, 2007The 31st Alabama & 17th Iowa Reenactors This page is in memory of our beloved Major Bobby Bawcum. At the age of 48, he passed away on August 14, 2007 in an accident. He will truly be missed by all. Bobby was a wonderful role model for all to follow. He was a loving husband, father, son and brother to all. He was a great friend and mentor. In general, he was a truly wonderful person to be around and his life was a true witness to the Lord. Bobby would (and did at times) give you the shirt off his back. I know I speak for everyone when I say that he made our lives better by knowing him. Knowing Bobby was an honor and blessing but he would never say that...he was truly a humble servant...never looking for any glory. His belief was to stay watchful for opportunities to help others and then do whatever is necessary to the best of your ability without having to be asked. He never met a stranger and if a fence post could talk back then he would have talked to it. Bobby touched the lives of so many people, both in the reenacting world and the world in general. For those of you who knew Bobby and his passion for reenacting know about his trailer. Bobby's trailer was FULL, just like his life. His trailer carried all kinds of things in it. Some stuff we didn't need and could have been left at home. If he thought we needed it, it was in the trailer. He was a great Boy Scout and troop leader and his trailer and life reflected his "always be prepared" motto. Bobby will always have a place in our hearts. His widow and children are in our thoughts and prayers. For those of you reading this who never had the blessing of personally knowing Bobby, he would say: "If you desire to know me then all you have to do is know God and our Savior, Jesus Christ. Live your life as if your death is right around the corner (it may be). Don't do things to make people happy they know YOU...do things to make God proud and make people happy they know HIM." Bobby, you are missed every day. We will see you "on the other side" someday...
